"I feel like I have the best job in the company. In Interactive Marketing, you get to utilize the power of online advertising and the newest technologies first. It's very fast paced and you can be quick to market, measure your results and almost instantly optimize." And, as if we needed to add to Danielle's excitement... "Now we're handling online branding for Corporate Marketing, along with our direct response marketing - it means new sites, new products and more tie in with Sony Electronics initiatives. It means bigger budgets, and we're very excited about this opportunity." That's just one of many examples of how your role - and your career - can advance with Sony.
As a huge San Diego Padres fan, it's no wonder Danielle's cat is named Tony Gwynn.
We'll just let Imelda's words say it for us. "I'm from Guatemala, so I never expected to ever work for a company like Sony. But I wanted to be a part of it. And now that I am, I can't explain the joy I felt when HR asked me to fill out the application. Coming to Sony changed my life completely." Imelda would naturally disagree, but we'd like to think that we're the lucky ones.
Imelda is an avid shopper and movie buff.
Senior Manager - Strategic Business Development
The fast pace of Sony Electronics is certainly to Steve's liking. "There's always a new project, new opportunities, new solutions — and you're always being tasked in creating those solutions." Best part? You're not creating these solutions alone. "Everyone I work with is very team oriented, there's a real sense of camaraderie." Oh, but there's more. "I think our benefits are also exceptional. Our HR WorkWaysTM online benefits management platform is great; I think the personal involvement platform is quite unique. And just the opportunity to work in cross-functional groups is great. You get to work with different people outside of your core competency — which is always enlightening."
As a "true gadget freak," Steve's newest passion is "capturing spontaneous moments" with his tiny Cyber-shot® digital still camera.
Senior Manager - Sale & Marketing
Patricia knows that successful business is all about building a relationship. And build it, she does... "I call customers or they call me — and they know they can count on us to deliver the best service. It's one thing to have the strong product, but it's always nice to have the people behind the product — to put a face and that trust in front of the customer." So when it comes to building relationships with our Sony teams, we do all we can. "Sony offers many programs that help individuals on a personal level. It really makes you realize how much Sony cares about us as individuals."
If you're looking to plan a practical joke in our Park Ridge location, Patricia's the one to call.
Ask Craig to describe the Sony team, and he'll tell you. "Our commonality is that there is no commonality. At Sony, common is not being common. It's all about different skill sets, creative people. There's an incredible amount of diversity." And, it is this very breadth and depth of work that Craig lives for... "It's all about the diversity of the opportunity. If I want, I can work on something creative. If I don't want to be creative, I can be analytical. But everything I do, it involves my talking to people, a lot of personal interaction - and I love that."
Craig played in the Little League World Series.
Manager - Business Planning
Sony blends perfectly with Paula's busy life. "The flexible hours are great. If I need time to help my daughter or go to school, I am able to. I'm never told no." Of course, Paula's education doesn't end with her schooling. "You're always acquiring knowledge and working with good people. You can feel free to stop and chat with anyone. You can learn about anything and any group. We're still so small that you can talk to anyone about the field you're interested in. It's a very comfortable atmosphere."
In addition to volunteering at her daughter's school, Paula loves reading and smooth jazz.
Senior Manager - Public Relations
As a Communications Manager, Rosemary says it best: "Outside of the brand, it's easy to be proud of Sony. You tell people you work for Sony, and you don't get a glazed look - it's instantaneous respect." It's a sense of respect that starts from within. "Everybody works very hard. There's a high level of expectation, but we all focus on that challenge to deliver the best quality work. The people are the heart and soul of this place. It's a real commitment, and it goes both ways — the company to its employees, and the people are just as committed to the company."
Rosemary's work with Sony has allowed her to meet Drew Barrymore, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Bobby Flay.
